In this era of threats of violence and school shootings–not to mention fire and weather emergencies–it is critical that all schools have effective emergency evacuation plans for students with disabilities.
Schools must design these plans to meet the individual needs of each student, including those who:
- have physical disabilities
- have sensory disabilities
- may lack understanding of a situation
- are unable to act quickly
